'Ali, Abdullah Yusuf,
(translator,) The Meaning of
The Holy Qur'an, (New Edition with Revised Translation and
Commentary);

Comment: This
work is the translation approved
by the American Muslim Council. The language in this edition
is more
moderate than some of that that found in the Dawood
translation.
The translator memorized the entire Qur'an as a child. As an
adult
he studied numerous western and eastern translations and scholarly
commentary
based on those translations. He competed this translation
while serving
as Dean of the Islamic College in Lahore, India. [See

Comment: In
General Systems Theory, The
Law of Requisite Variety (Ashby's Law) states that in
order to resolve
problems for any system of a type with a given amount of complexity,
the
coping system must have an equivalent or greater variety of copying
capacity,
or it will behave pathologically. The greater the difference between
the
complexity of the target system compared to the coping system the
greater
the evident pathology, e.g., in an interpersonal relationship, if one
person
devotes themselves to an active program of personal growth, the
relationship
will often become dysfunctional due to the increasing gap in the
respective
consciousness of the parties. [key

Comment:Usually
published under an
"Anonymous" author, this book is written from the perspective of the
voice
of THE PRESENCE
within, and is a guide for
shedding one's emotional attachment to all things of the world. While
it
is simple to read, it recommends a way of life that few on earth will
be
equal to, for it represents the ultimate in self discipline in one's
control
of the senses and the mind. This discipline is the required
pre-condition
for access into the realms of Spirit. ...

Comment: Volume
1 is devoted to Cosmogenesis,
Volume 2 is devoted to Anthropogenesis. Blavatsky (a Russian Mystic)
founded
the Theosophical Society with Henry Steel Olcott and William
Quan
Judge near the end of the 19th Century (1875.) She lived
between
1831 and 1891, dividing her later years among the United States,
England
and Tibet/India. Luminaries associated with this society
include
General Abner Doubleday, (creator of baseball,) and the inventor Thomas
Alva Edison. Albert Einstein kept a copy of The
Secret Doctrine
on
his desk. Charles and Myrtle Fillmore who cofounded
the Unity
School of Christianity, along with many other leaders in the New
Thought
movement [Gnostic Christian resurgence,] were
active members of
this society. [For information on the publications of the Theosophical

Comment: She
is one of the world's most
respected latter day scholars of ancient Mysticism, a Mystic herself,
perhaps
even an Adept, has commented extensively on the western mind's
confusion
about Karma and its mechanism of reincarnation. Her
references to

reprinted in 1988, Isis
Unveiled: A Master Key to the Mysteries of Ancient and Modern Science
and
Philosophy, (2 Vol), (Pasadena, CA: Theosophical Publishing
House)
Comment: This
work is the precursor to the
Secret Doctrine. Blavatsky was prolific writer, among many other works,
she also wrote a major prelude to this set. Its first volume is
entitled
"Science" and the second "Theology." A major interpreter of her complex
concepts is: de Purucker, G., 1935, The Esoteric Tradition, (2 Vols),
Pasadena,
Ca: Theosophical University Press. ...

Comment: Translated
(from the Tibetan) by HPB
with commentary, from The Book of Dzyan The book
offers insight
into the nature and dynamics of "The Silence" which is a difficult
concept
for the western intellect to embrace. In the "The
Silence" is the Source
of Knowing.

is an exhaustive compilation
of the evidence in support of reincarnation that must exist as a
Spiritual
Principle. The scholarship of this work is meticulous and extensive.
One
can hardly imagine any serious opposition that could stand in the face
of her pattern of evidence. NOTE: The 1991 edition has still
more
material added to the previous version. For reasons unknown
to me,
the book now credits Joseph Head as principal author. Consistent with
the
concerns of OT/MP for correctness in assigning credit, I wonder why
credit
for a significant contribution to the literature on Mysticism has
suddenly
changed. I have inquired of the Theosophical
Publishing house
where I just noticed the change (April, 2003.) I will leave
this
comment in place until I get an explanation. ...

de Chardin, Teilhard, 1955/1959,
The Phenomenon of

Comment:Chardin,
Jesuit priest, a palaeontolengist,
was banished to China by the Catholic church because of his heretical
ideas.
There he spent the last part of his life. In spite of its
enormous
contribution to metaphysics, de Chardin wanted his work to be seen as a
scientific treatise rather than as a metaphysical or theological work [p
29]. This book was suppressed by the Catholic chruch
until his
death in 1955, after which which it was first published in Paris by
Editions
de Seuil that same year. From his analytical studies of the genetic and
palaeontological history of all living matter, he recognized that that
there has to be an embracing shield of thinking Consciousness that
envelops
the earth, within which all levels of life exist as contributors and
beneficiaries
with humanity at the apex. He called this shield, a natural
progression
of consciousness as a part of the eternal cosmogenisis, the Noosphere.
He wrote:
"The recognition and isolation of a new era
in evolution,
the era of noogenesis, obliges us to distinguish...yet another membrane
in the telluric layers. A glow ripples outward from the first spark of
conscious reflection. The point of ignition grows larger. The
fire
spreads in ever widening circles till finally the whole planet is
covered
with incandescence. Only one interpretation, only one name
can be
found worthy of this grand phenomenon...In other words, outside and
above
the biosphere there is the noosphere. " [pp 181-182]

light on

information is particularly relevant today because of the resurgence of
the original Gnostic Principles in New Thought Christianity

Fillmore, Charles, 1931: Metaphysical
Bible Dictionary
(MBD,) Unity Village, MO, Unity School of Christianity.
Comment: Compiled
by Charles Fillmore. Although
Fillmore is justly credited with the creation of this dictionary, it
must
be noted that in its creation, Fillmore gathered together a number of
Biblical
scholars, especially Rabbis who were professionally involved with The
Qabalah, the ancient teachings of Jewish
Mysticism.
Since its original publication, in 1931, the following comments have
been
said about this work:
"As a result of over twenty years of close
examination and
the causing of some hundred copies to be placed in the hands of
colleagues,
students and friends, it is my humble opinion that the Metaphysical
Bible Dictionary is the best aid to the translation of
physical metaphors
into nonphysical precepts available to us today. Although the author,
on
a personal level, identifies with and uses as an instrument for
publication
a clearly defined religious system, the Metaphysical Bible
Dictionary
transcends the boundaries of any one religion. Through his unique and
skillful
authorship, Charles Fillmore has in this work accomplished the amazing
dichotomy of being rudimentary and paramount, foundational yet, exalted
in the totality of this presentation. The Bibles of the major
religions
of the world, - Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Islamism and
others merge on the pages of this book. Its offering is generous to the
novice and the professional." Michael Maday (Editor)

Haish is a world
renowned astrophysicist and was editor of the Astrophysical Journal
for ten years. His biography also shows in-depth contact with
Buddhism, Mysticism and metaphysics. The Mystical Paradigm
embraces the ideas and concepts as are represented in this book.

ideas are consistent with the metaphysics of Charles
Fillmore and other contributors to the Unity and New Thought
movements, and to the emergent Gnostic Christian resurgence. Hall,

Comment: The
popular associations assigned
to the Four horsemen include the plagues of Famine, Pestilence, War
with
Death as the Fourth Horseman. But the Ancient Mysteries were reflected
in the Gnostic book of the Apocalypse which was deleted from the Bible
by the early church fathers in their struggle with the Gnostics and
their
pagan origins, but it was" sanitized and redefined into the Book of
Revelation.
In the mysticism of the Apocalypse the four horsemen are mystically
described
in the Book of Revelation as allegedly compiled by St. John. The
horsemen
are released by the opening of the first four seals. The first seal
(Rev
6:2) releases a white horse with a rider bearing a crown and bow,
symbolic
of birth with its promise and equipment for the conquest of life; the
second
seal (Rev 6:4) releases a red horse with rider holding a great sword,
symbolizing
maturity and its blind commitment to the sensate dominance of reality;
the third seal (Rev 6:5) releases a black horse with a rider carrying a
pair of balances (scales) symbolizing old age and the surrender of
youthful
strength to the rule of logic and reason; and the fourth seal (Rev 6:8)
releases a pale horse symbolizing death and the torments of hell. This
hell is similar to the eastern concept of Karma or continuing rebirth
into
life until saved by a genuine illumination of Consciousness, i.e.,
birth
of Spirit, or the "Second Coming," (i.e., as in "John 3:5, NIV: "Jesus
answered, `I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God
unless
he is born of water and the Spirit.'") [Contact Philosophical

Comment:He
wrote what every "change

borne
in mind that there is nothing more difficult to arrange, more doubtful
of success, and more dangerous to carry through than initiating change
in a state's constitution [read "an established paradigm" in
place
of "a state's constitution"] The innovator makes enemies of
all those
who prospered under the old order, and only lukewarm support is
forthcoming
from those would prosper under the new. ...whenever those who oppose
change
can do so, they attack vigorously, and the defense made by others is
only
lukewarm. So both the innovator and his friends are endangered
together."

recommended. This
reference is included in this metaphysical section (rather than the
social commentary section) because of its foundation focus on the role
of secret societies in contemporary politics and their connection to
the ancient mysteries. This book is a tour de force of
meticulous documentation linking contemporary politics with its
historical antecedents in the form of the actions and influences of
various secret societies, e.g., the Council on Foreign Relations, Skull
& Bones Society, Bilderburger Society, Freemasons, the
Illuminati, the Rosicrucian's, the Priory of Sion, and so
on. Some of these groups originally arose to counter
the persistent perversions of Jesus' message by the Christian church [evidence] as
the proto-orthodox Bishops tried to preserve the existence and power of
the lineage of apostolic successors as approved by
them. These have tortured and murdered hundreds of thousands
of adherents to various views that contradicted
and
opposed their official dogma over
the past two millennia.These
opposing groups included those who protected and advanced the Gnostic
teachings of Jesus and other expressions of Spiritual Truth
that began with the very dawn of human
consciousness as the first expressions of the ancient
mysteries. [See Note] ...

Miller, James Grier, 1978, Living
Systems, NY:
McGraw Hill Co
Comment:This
is a definitive book that
helped establish the credibility of the General Systems
movement.
Miller created 19 critical subsystems that are required to be present
as
a definition of life. Then he developed hundreds of
hypothesis showing
the commonality of system behavior through eacxh level of increasing
complexity:
the cell, organ, organism (individual,) group, organization and
society.
Each hypothesis was weighted in accordance with his confidence, in
terms
of current science, that the hypothesis will stand up to meticulous
scientific
scrutiny in the future: low, medium, and high. [U

Comment: The
architecture of a Course in Miracles
is predicated upon this phenomenon that there is no absolute Reality
directly
accessible to the senses or the intellect, i.e., per her quote:
"Nothing
real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of
God." The course teaches that all perception and the evidence
derived
from mental consciousness is an illusion that must be rejected to enter
the path of Spiritual growth. The course is a series of year long
exercises
and guidance for achieving that goal. A Course in Miracles
was authored
by an atheistic psychologist who was abruptly "channeled" to receive
the
content and commanded to write down the words under the mystical
speaker's
direction. Helen
Schucman made her transition in 1981. The
foundation continues
under the direction of Gloria and Kenneth Wapnick. ...

more well written account of the phenomenon of PTSD (Post Traumatic
Stress
Disorder) than came to public awareness during the Vietnam war. The
disorder
was experienced by combat veterans as experiencing all or some of the
following
dysfunctions: Flashbacks in which a stressor (a car backfire, or person
resembling a Vietcong) precipitously triggers the actual reaction of
combat
in the veteran, traumatic nightmares, chronic distress, severe
alienation
and anomie, inability to form or reform bonds with spouses and
significant
others in the veterans life. In some cases there is decline into
chronic
drug and alcohol abuse, traumatic or fatal accidents, murder and
suicide.

any doubt, as reported
in this volume, Skinner convincingly demonstrated by an extensive array
of experiments, that punishment does not change behavior.
Punishment
only inhibits behavior, and only in the presence of the punishing
stimulus.
Yet as moot testimony to the inhibiting power of absent consciousness,
our prisons and polices of criminal "rehabilitation," and the manner by
which we handle "problem" children in our schools, are mostly handled,
managed, and conducted today as though this information had never come
into the world. ... Smith, Adam, 1975, Powers

each case the child was born with a physical mark or deformity that
corresponded
closely to a wound, often fatal, or scar on the body of the deceased
person
the child remembers being. See the birthmarks article posted
in the
above web page reference for a sample of this kind of
case.
Birthmarks are physical evidence of reincarnation that can't be
dismissed!

Comment: This
is the most accessible
of Stevenson's writing. It summarizes his research findings,
gives
a sample of cases, and showcases Stevenson's main ideas and theories
about
the phenomenon of children's past life memories. If you want to
discover
what Ian Stevenson's work is all about, but only want to read one book,

Comment: This
article presents the message
found in the ancient Egyptian Amudat, (Guidance on
the After Life)
which precedes the,
Egyptian Book of the Dead. The
hieroglyphics
for Amudat were found in the tomb of the pharaoh,
Tuthmosis, III,
who died about 1425 BCE. Scholars believe its source
originated several
thousand years before, and is thus the oldest of humanity's written
works
of religion. Its message states, that God is within each person, and
describes
the journey of the human Soul toward its reunion with God. Egyptian
literature
consistently refers to "God in man." ...

Valea, Ernest, 2003, http://www.comparativereligion.com/reincarnation.html Comment:
In the interest of objectivity on
the topic of reincarnation, this site is offered because of its
detailed
attack on the existence of reincarnation. The author's
polemic appears
to be scholarly and is artfully done. But there are at least
two
warning flags to be noted in his discussion. First, he tends
to use
only one or two examples from many (e.g., from the the work of Ian
Stevenson)
which he then faults for what appears to be a credible cause. Then he
generalizes
his claim to the rest of Stevenson's more than 1000 meticulously
documented
cases. But counter explanations could be offered to such challenges
that
are consistent with a claim of reincarnation. The
alternatives he
offers in replacement for reincarnation are sometimes more challenging
conceptually than accepting reincarnation as an explanation for an
event
of past life recall, e.g., that a spirit channeled the information
presented
by the child or by the person being regressed. After
reviewing the
detail of Valea's commentary, I came away with the strong feeling that
he has taken upon himself an agenda to defend orthodox Christianity
against
all "New Age" and eastern religious alternatives, at least so far as
reincarnation
is concerned. While he identifies his site as Christian, and while its
scale and scope implies his authority to create his extensive array of
topics in addition to reincarnation, he offers no identity for himself
or his organization (if any.) His unnamed server is located in Romania.

dishonest tactics of the political right. The Fox News Channel
had
the hubris to actually sue the author for what they argue is copyright
infringement of their claim to be "fair and balanced." Just
consider
the implications of this audacity when any zealot actually believes
they
can claim a common descriptive phrase in the English language
as
exclusively theirs, especially when it is being used to focus
scathingly
valid criticism at their political movement. Suppose that political
movement
can install judges who will, among other abuses, enforce their
exclusive
control over elements of our English language? This is just
one of
the growing number of alarm bells going off in our society
now, for
those with ears to hear. [Franken

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!~ This is a brilliant
exposition of the cultural and social factors that led to the election
and reelection of George W. Bush. He show the costs
to our society by which
our historical dependence on the rule of reason is steadily being
eroded by the politics of greed, personality and personal destruction.
Gore shows how the transition from print culture, that was
our communication norm until mid 20th Century, when the electronic
media
of radio and television transformed the culture into passive recipients
of packaged information structured to solely serve the interests of the
media owners, or the highest bidder. He shows how
wealth
has come to dominate and serve only the priorities of the wealthy, and
to serve them at the
expense of the national interest. Unless the pathological
conditions summarized in his book are soon reversed, the implications
for our national future are disturbingly clear. Gore,

STRONGLY RECOMMENDED~ This is a not-for profit

outstanding work of "love made visible" as Al Gore effectively makes

ethical
principles required for our stewardship of our earth.

Hedge is an ordained minister with his divinity degree earned from the
Harvard Divinity School. This is an important book about the
pernicious influence of right wing religion in politics to
day. Following
is an
exerpt from a reviewer, Robert D. Steele.
"Blinding insight from this
author: the extreme right does not limit
it's cherry-picking to intelligence--it routinely cherry-picks from the
Bible, which contains ample violence and bigotry and hatred for the
ends of the extreme right: channeling fury into funding.
The author discussed "dominionism" as the fascist rendition
of the Christian faith.
Key intellectual and patriotic contributions in this book
include a
study of the evangelicals and the number that take the Bible literally,
the naming of names at the top who are a danger to American democracy,
and in three pages of damning indictment, the manner in which
neo-fascist Kenneth Blackwell, Secretary of State for Ohio, stole that
state's electoral votes for Bush by manipulating and disappearing
voting registrations and actual votes."

Phillip, 2003, "Ashcroft
and the Bushites unleash madness in Miami," The Hightower
Lowdown,
(Vol 5: No 12); December, NY: Public Intelligence, Inc., pp 1+
Comment:
"Cops were told to savage fellow Americans."
This feature article is an account of gross abuses of public authority
unleashed by Miami, state, and federal authorities to prevent public
opposition
against the November 19, meetings of the FTAA (Free Trade Area of the
Americas,)
or "NAFTA on steroids." The article documents in detail the
conditions
that define a "massive police state," created with state and federal
funds
under the Ashcroft Justice Department to fully suppress all democratic
free speech in opposition to NAFTA and the corporate dominance it
represents
and serves. The scope, frequency, nature, and extent of
abuses, including
those of the press and citizens not involved in the protests, are
stunning.
These actions were undertaken in spite of the protesters having duly
obtained
the required government permissions and were organized in accordance
with
those permissions. The corporate owned local and national
media reports
substantially sanitized their descriptions of what actually happened.

documents
how the legitimate banks are making billions of dollars by processing
laundered
drug money, and why every effort will be made by these vested interests

Holt and Company, LLC Comment: Highly
Recommended.This
book should be required reading for every politician and candidate for
public office. A reading of this book with even a crude
understanding of its implications, will reveal the nature of the plans
that have occupied the priorities of the corporate right wing since
before President Dwight D. Eisenhower's 1961 warning to the United
States about the dangers of the recently established "Military
Industrial Complex." That was required at the time to win WWII.
It makes punishingly clear just what the Bush-Cheney psychopathic
agenda has been for the past eight years, and how it is now directing
the corporate right wing's efforts to prevail in the 2008 presidential
election. Eisenhower's warning has been entirely
ignored
with the disastrous political consequences that are the ruination of
our nation today. If you want to read a REAL horror story,
one
that makes Stephen King look like an amateur, read this book because
this horror is factually real, authoritive in its documentation,
immanent, and as of now, largely
unrecognized for what it actually is and what it portends.
Therefore,
this condition is NOT being adequately responded to. For access to a

Comment: The
famous Johnstown flood of 1889
[located in the Laurel Highlands in western PA, 50 miles east of
Pittsburgh]
caused thousands of deaths when the South Fork dam broke, inundating
the
already flooded valley below. The South Fork Dam was a pleasure
preserve
which indulged the wealthiest families in America prior to the turn of
the 19th Century, e.g, Carnegie, Fisk, Mellon, & Rockerfeller.
The
people of Johnstown and the Conemaugh Valley, like most of their era,
were
in complete awe of the wealthy and powerful, the secular replacements
for
the God-Kings. They could not believe that those who had become so
successful
and powerful (by God's pleasure) would do anything so evil or
incompetent
as to threaten the entire valley. But it was their wilful neglect and
mismanagement
of their South Fork dam in order to give themselves a larger
recreational
lake that created the capacity that was unleashed upon the already
flooded
valley as a consumate disaster in the spring of 1889. [account]

a prescient masterpiece
of political insight, the only problem with this book is its
title.
In the actual year 1984, the presence of a "Ministry of Truth," "Big
Brother,"
"Double Think," "Newpeak," and other unique labels coined by Orwell
were
only emerging at a subliminal level. But today, near the year
2004,
his description of the dynamics of an immanent authoritarian social
reality
flourishes in the United States. But these symptoms are
mostly unrecognized
by the voting public for what they are, nor are their dire implications
for continuing social stability fully appreciated.

Comment:
Bandler was
an expert in the logic systems of computers and interested in
correlates
of computer "neurons" with the human nervous system. Grinder, was a
linguist
sympathetic to advanced concepts of language such as Chomsky's idea of
a deep neural structure as the foundation for all language. They
collaborated
to make this one of the major books that gave rise to what became
called
the Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) movement. The authors studied
the
therapeutic techniques of three giants in the world of
psychology--Virginia
Satir, Gregory Bateson and Milton Erickson. Based upon their analysis
of
the techniques used, in the context of their own professional
disciplines,
Bandler and Grinder formulated their interactive communication
paradigm.
At the level of the neuron's operations, there is no difference between
"fact" and "fantasy." These techniques are extremely useful in helping
disputants to more accurately define the nature of needs-to-issues
relationships.

This
site uses quotes and citations under
the traditional
"fair use" doctrine as permitted in traditional publishing which
includes
attribution to my source. I am making a serious effort to
obtain
clearances for all expanded citations, graphics and audio. I will
complete
this task by the time this hyper book is released to the WWW.
Coypyright
owners who object to
my use of their material under fair use guidelines should notify me in
writing of their objection and their reason.
While
I am pleased that many
publishers are cooperative,
some large firms in particular have either issued a blanket refusal, or
placed such economic demands or editorial constraints as to effectively
prohibit me from using their material. This
refusal
is consistent with my claims in OT/MP of abuse of power by large
corporations.
Where
this refusal occurs, the deleted
material will be replaced by a paraphrase. A reference will be made to
the refusing publisher with an accompanying statement explaining how
this
is a violation of "fair use" doctrine, and is a restraint of
intellectual
freedoms, both mine, the author I would site, and on your right to know.
This
abuse constitutes a
cost to
you the reader, to the authorities I would site, and to our society.
Such restrictive practices are not acceptable in a Democracy and are
one
indicator of growing threats to our freedoms. Such denials illustrate
the
dangers already arising from abuses of corporate power getting out of
control
as is documented in this hyper book in which they act to control the
dissemination
of information by use of economic and/or legal coercion.
